The sweet wine of Alsace is generally produced from either the Riesling or the Gewürztraminer grape varieties.

 The wines’ level of sweetness can vary according to which grape variety has been used as well as to whether the grapes have been late harvested or they may even be individually selected botrytised grapes.  They are in general full of fruit and the best of them can be kept over several decades.

 These sweet white wines from Alsace make the perfect accompaniment to hot foie gras but also can accompany well more exotic fruit desserts.
